How to get the Lightning Ability in Crimson Desert
This page is a Crimson Desert Walkthrough for the Courtyard of Precision. This gives you your first elemental ability, lightning and is easily missed.
Getting the elemental abilities, like many other things in Crimson Desert, is not an obvious mission. What you need to do to find the lightning is actually explore the Abyss on your own. The lightning ability is the first of the elements you can get and you can get it a lot earlier than you think.
Once you complete your first Abyss SkyBridge at the end of Chapter 1, you will go back down to Pywel and continue on your main missions. Check out that mission here. At this point, you can now go back up to the Abyss whenever you want and start making more skybridges. The game isn’t going to have you go back up for a long time and it wont take you here. So to get the lightning ability, go back up to the Abyss and make your way through the different skybridges until you reach The Courtyard of Precision.

The one ability you will need is Focused Shot. This gives you the ability to mark multiple targets at once before firing. Once you have Focused shot, head to The Courtyard of Precision. From the Abyss Nexus, walk up the stairs and look up to find five floating diamonds above you. Now, you guessed it, activate Focus shot and mark the two yellow ones. Once you shoot those, they will turn blue like the other three diamonds and you will have completed this portion of the puzzle. Now run around this level and complete the other three sections shooting the yellow diamonds.
Once you have done that comes the harder part of the puzzle. When you look up there are giant floating rings above you. You need to fly up to them and shoot more diamonds. Fly into the middle and there is a wind current that will actually take you up to the rings. Then land on one of the rings and walk towards the diamonds giving you a good angle to shoot them like you did below.
Once you do that you will have completed the puzzle so fly back to the bottom and use a force jump on top of the platform to Restore the Abyss and get the Lightning ability. It’s easy to miss that you even get the ability, it shows you very briefly in the corner of the screen but with how much is going on I actually missed it.
Now to use it, Hold right on the dpad and you will now see purple lightning bolts on the right of the wheel. Point to it with your joystick and you now have lightning activated. BUT, to actually use it, you will now need to activate the skill allowing you to imbue your moves with elements. Now you’re ready for some fun!
