Crimson Desert Is Finally Here — And We're Losing Our Minds

Alright, gamers. The day has almost come. After what feels like an eternity of trailers, delays, and us refreshing our feeds like it's going to make the game release faster — Crimson Desert is dropping tomorrow, March 19th, 2026. And here at DuckNCoverGaming, we are not okay. In the best possible way.

What Even Is Crimson Desert?

Title: Crimson Desert Developer/Publisher: Pearl Abyss Platforms: PC (Steam & Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, macOS Release Date: March 19, 2026 Price: $69.99 (Standard) | $79.99 (Deluxe)

If you've somehow been living under a rock (or just haven't been listening to our podcast — shame on you), here's the quick rundown. Crimson Desert is an open-world action-adventure RPG developed and published by Pearl Abyss — the same studio behind Black Desert Online. Originally conceived as a prequel to that game, it eventually evolved into its own standalone universe, and honestly, that might have been the best decision they ever made.

You play as Kliff, a warrior and member of a mercenary group called the Greymanes, set in the fictional medieval continent of Pywel. After a devastating ambush by their rivals — the Black Bears — leaves the Greymanes scattered and broken, Kliff sets off to reunite his crew and take on the forces threatening to tear the whole continent apart. Think The Witcher 3 meets Dragon's Dogma 2, with a combat system that looks so fluid it should probably be illegal.

Why Are We So Hyped?

Honestly, where do we even start? The combat alone has us drooling. We're talking melee combos, horseback fighting, massive boss battles, and elemental abilities — all powered by Pearl Abyss's proprietary BlackSpace Engine. The world looks absolutely gorgeous, the story has genuine emotional weight, and early previews have been largely glowing about its scope and ambition.

This is a single-player only experience too, which in an era of live-service fatigue feels like a breath of fresh air. No battle passes. No FOMO events. Just you, Kliff, and a world begging to be explored.

Tomorrow Is the Day

If you're in North America, you can jump in at 3pm PDT / 6pm EDT on March 19th. The standard edition runs $69.99 and the deluxe edition comes in at $79.99 — and yes, we think it's worth every penny.

Whether you're a die-hard RPG fan, a casual player looking for your next big adventure, or someone who just wants to watch a guy on a horse punch a mechanical dragon in the face — Crimson Desert has something for you.
